captured moments

The scientist was killed..............

I had just started learning science in my kinder garten days.  Without understanding much of the subject I would still try to grasp it. Learning things by experimenting was never an option given in schools. Nevertheless I always tried to learn things by experimenting. The results of my experiments would never match with the writings of my book. Yet, I never lost the enthusiasm and came out with interesting results. I knew that I could master the subject on my own . But it would turn out to be a real nuisance I could have never imagined.  As a kid I was taught that a seed needs – air, water and sunlight. To my surprise in the very next class, when the teacher  was teaching us social studies she said that a fertilized soil helps a seed to grow........................ The scientist in me could neither agree to the results, nor the theorems until experimented. Since I was a low profile scientist, I did not have my personal study room. The garden was the only place spared to m...

my old album.............

The heavenly fragrance of the celibate earth waits for life to be rejuvenated. The first shower of the season brings life to the thirsty earth.  I sit alone, sipping my cup of coffee. And I see the drizzle outside.   My careless beauty reflects on the mirror. Time has taken hold of everything. My innocent eyes now have the glimpse of promise and trust. My loneliness has made me understand my strengths. My fears have turned to challenges. Darkness brings in new light. My eyes fall on to the old personal album that lies between my books and papers untouched. I pull it out in a moment’s impulse.  Childhood days, schooldays, college, friends, and birthdays.............my engagement...........my marriage..........  I let my thoughts flow through me uninterrupted. A sudden furore shattered my world to pieces. I battle out a reason every night. I figure out an explanation every day. It simply remains unanswered. I have treasured the album which barely holds the real picture...

being honest.............

Someone intelligent enough, not to be fooled, but fool enough to be deceived. Someone who says "Love is not my cup of tea”, but has many cups hidden in her cupboard. Someone who says "I care a damn about money”, but dreams to make it big someday. Someone who says "I care a damn about guys”, but deep within aspires to win the heart of someone special. Someone who says” I don’t cry”, but weeps at the slightest provocation behind a closed door. Someone who says "So what I don’t have friends”, but keeps track of someone she studied with in her Pre-Nursery days. Someone who claims to be an atheist,  but prays twice before leaving home. Someone who says” I’m an alcoholic”, but all the alcohol in her blood comes from an occasional peg of vodka once a year. Someone who wanted to be a doctor, studied to be a historian and landed nowhere till now. Struggle continues. Someone who writes all this crap yet believes that people will actually fall for it. Wel...

As I Stand

As I stand, alone gazing at the rising sun Far from my inner self that burns I wonder, about those roads I have covered I question, what should I rediscover? The thoughts are hobnobbing in my mind Without even giving a space for me to find That which I have left far behind Nevertheless the thoughts still grind My soul is parched and dry This does not even allow me to cry As I think what else should I try? In this world, then at last I sigh In brief....... I should conquer my own grief Only then will I be bereaved The only chance to re-live..... So that when I stand alone again gazing at the rising sun I know which way to turn Grasping those duties which i had left undone Only then can I also be a bright su...

The autobiography of a pen

I was a bit astonished. He was restless, wrote with a thud on the paper. I rested panting for breath and my eyes fell on what he wrote: Is baar ghawon ko dekhna hai Gaur se thoda lambe wakt tak Kuch faisley Aur uskey baad hausley kahin toh shuruat karni hee hogi Is baar yahi tay kiya hai Translated, it reads: “This time one will see the wounds Vehemently for a longer time Then decide And gather the encourage To start from somewhere This is what is to be decided this time.” The TV set showed horrifying pictures. Places being attacked, bombs being exploded and gun fires being shot. Blood splashed all over, people terrified, wounded and dead. I saw a man in uniform, his eyes glittering with bravery, heading to rescue the victims. L...

Autobiography of an Endangered Species.

The sun will again rise tomorrow, till then I have to wait. My mother is not speaking a word. Some of the elders had gone in search of my father and they have not returned as yet. The whole world is engulfed in darkness. Why did father not come home? The other day when Jikky’s brother did not return home how everyone was tensed. At the end of the day’s search it was discovered that his brother has been hunted down. There is a strange fear in my mind. No sooner did the day break; I set out in search of my father. Unaware of what was awaiting for me in the future with no clue of which direction to take I started from a point. I was aware that mother was also awake the whole night. If it would have been some other day she would have stopped me from going out alone at such an early hour. Today she pretended to unnoticed me, just to combat with her perturbed anxiety. No sooner did I start my search I heard a whispering and a very cautious trumpet. I recognised that it wa...
